Healing is Exhausting

Sometimes you’re just not feeling right. Never-mind top notch, optimal or thriving. This is that energy level that is akin to just getting by — you know the feeling, right?

When we feel this way, it’s easy to choose things that help give us a boost to provide temporary relief. Think: extra coffee and sugary treats. Hey, psst…we’ll keep this secret between us, but can we just admit that we know this perpetuates the issue?

Lately, I’ve been feeling absolutely done.

The last few weeks have taken an extra toll on my body and I had to spend some time in self reflection to explore why.

I am healing behemoth levels of things I had long forgotten, so I intentionally have allowed for extra time to be alone. For more self-care, quiet and just to sit and cry if needed.

I had forgotten just how tiring healing is.

I don’t even want to tell people how exhausting healing can be because that makes a lot of people shy away from it. But the reward once you’ve moved through something big, once you’ve cleared that block, opened up your energy centers and you find your perfect flow again…it’s absolutely worth every agonizing minute spent waiting to feel better.

The truth is, it takes a certain kind of grit to heal. It takes a load of patience and extra care. It isn’t quick. There is no perfect solution. There is no shortcut. There is no magic potion. Trust me, I’ve looked. Similar to physical healing of an injury or surgery, emotional and spiritual healing also takes time, but because a doctor hasn’t cut you open with a scalpel, told you to stay off your feet for a week and not lift anything for a month, we often don’t give emotional and spiritual healing the respect and credit that’s needed and that it deserves.

If you’re in the midst of a lengthy period of feeling drained, it’s your body’s way of saying it’s time to really take a look at things.

Can you muster up enough grace for yourself and check in with you?

When was the last time you asked your heart what she needed?

Deep cleansing breath, dear one. Even in this moment if you don’t believe it’ll be okay, I promise you that things always work out and you’ve got this more than your 3 am mind will allow you to believe.
