Are You Making Time for Yourself?

I think there are a lot of false promises out there. You see it in clickbait headlines all the time. We’ve somehow gotten ourselves to believe that the ‘magic just happens’ if we sign up for this ‘next thing’.

Secret tip, I think it does ‘just happen’, but only if you make time and show up for yourself. Just like it takes most of us ‘over-night successes’ 10 years to get to where we are.

The magic is definitely in the trusting and believing.

But we need to pair this with applying ourselves, having self-accountability, maintaining our energy and managing our time.

I’ve started to notice a shift in the people who are drawn to me, and who get the most out of the work I do.

It’s not the ‘chronic I sign up for everything’ people because I’m afraid to miss something. Trust me! Been there done that, still → ← this close, but getting better.

It’s the people who have decided it’s time to take care of themselves. They put the effort in. They commit to themselves in some small way every single day.

They may try different things, but often it’s one thing at a time, and then they consider what is next. They ask questions. They already have boundaries how much time they give to others and know that they are priority number one.

One of my favourite recent examples of this lately has been the kind folks who easily and openly admit that they didn’t have either the funds or the time to sign up for a particular offering of mine because they were working on another course, or a home renovation, or had an expected dental bill, or they were grieving the loss of a friend and didn’t have capacity to learn anything at that point in time.

Do you know what happened? Every single one of these folks returned the following month, or signed up for the next class, or booked the next appointment.

They did this because they were ready to, not because they were pressured, not because they had a fear of missing something, it was a calculated and specific intentional choice.

Why I love all of this..

1) they are being totally transparent and honest with me, which makes me feel trusted and that I’ve cultivated enough of a rapport that people feel safe to tell me these things

2) they already know they are having to clear something up before the sign up for ‘the next thing’ which means they have a certain level of awareness around their personal capacity, which as a healer and a coach just absolutely makes my happy cells in my brain light up like a Christmas tree

3) when they did sign up, they were actually ready to take in whatever it was they were coming to me for, without the overwhelm of other things on their plate

Folks, I invite you to consider an intentional review of where you’re spending your time, and if it isn’t working for you, how would you prefer to spend it?

What step will you take today take toward your self-development journey?

Your, I just want to feel a little bit better today journey?

Your, something’s gotta give spiral?

Love,
Heather
